Qualifications

• Graduate from accredited nursing school.
• Must have two years of nursing experience.
• Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or valid Compact RN license.
• Must have BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from one of: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Military Training Network.
• Must have Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy certificate within six months of placement in the role.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to assigned patient population per state nurse practice act and hospital standards.
• Demonstrates ability to safely perform RN II-Oncology Services responsibilities.
• Administers chemotherapy and manages related side effects.
• Maintains central line devices and IV access.
• Educates patients and families about cancer care and treatment side effects.
• Participates in precepting and may serve as Charge Nurse on rotation.
• Keeps up to date with oncology practices and certifications.
