Job summary

Eastern Kansas Health Care System Topeka VAMC is seeking two qualified Registered Nurses for Oncology and Hematology in Specialty Care. This clinical position follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 0800 to 1630.

Qualifications include a nursing degree, current RN license, English proficiency, and VA-specific licensure requirements. Preferred oncology experience is noted, with comprehensive VA total rewards and PTO benefits described.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency is required.
• Current RN license from a U.S. state or territory as applicable by VA regulatory standards.
• Graduate of an approved nursing program (ACEN or CCNE preferred).
• For foreign educated nurses, licensure validation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care based on age-specific components.
• Administer medications and procedures per policies.
• Maintain a safe environment when handling antineoplastic drugs and waste.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to influence care outcomes.
• Document in the EHR and monitor patient care needs.
• Potentially long periods of walking/standing; lift up to 35 pounds.
