Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates is seeking an Oncology RN to support our Hampton office. This full-time, in-person role includes chemotherapy administration, patient monitoring, venipuncture and care documentation, with travel between offices as needed.

Requirements include an accredited nursing degree, current Virginia RN license, BCLS, and oncology experience preferred. BSN preferred with OCN certification as a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Current RN license issued by the state of Virginia.
• Oncology care experience strongly preferred.
• Current BCLS certification required.
• OCN certification preferred.
• Must be willing to travel between offices as needed.

Responsibilities

• Administers chemotherapy, hydration and other meds under physician direction.
• Monitors patient therapy using appropriate clinical skills.
• Assess changes in patient condition; escalate as needed.
• Perform venipuncture and manage central venous access devices.
• Maintain efficient patient flow and document all elements of care.
• Provide phone triage and act as a resource to staff.
• Communicate with physicians/APPs about interventions and patient needs.

Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for an Oncology RN to support our office in Hampton.

Compensation Range: $31.85 - $64.75. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Administers chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician
• Assesses and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician
• Assesses patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans and drug reactions. Initiates appropriate action.
• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivering systems
• Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow
• Phone triage as assigned
• Documents all elements of care
• Serves as a resource to the Medical Assistants
• Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or advanced practice provider
• Assesses patient and family needs
