Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking an experienced Oncology Data Specialist to oversee data quality control in the cancer registry database and to conduct QA audits in accordance with industry standards.

The role includes providing continuing education for the Cancer Registry staff to address new cancer data standards and to rectify gaps in knowledge, mentoring non-certified Oncology Data Specialists for certification readiness.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience as an Oncology Data Specialist in a CoC-accredited hospital or central registry setting, with at least one year in QA.
• Bachelor's degree in health information management or related field.
• ODS-C certification.

Mentors and trains non-certified Oncology Data Specialists for certification readiness.

Required Qualifications

• - Require five (5) years of experience as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) in a CoC-accredited hospital or central registry setting, with at least one year of current quality control experience.
• - Require a bachelor's degree in health information management or related field of study.
• - Require Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• - Prefer experience working in a Florida-based Cancer Registry working in a Commission on Cancer- (Coc-) accredited program.
• - Prefer thorough knowledge of Cancer Registry data and coding rules.
• Prefer proficiency in MS Office Suite products, industry-related cancer registry software systems, and EMR applications.
• - Prefer experience with data submissions to the Florida Cancer Data System and the National Cancer Database, as well as experience creating, running, and analyzing ad-hoc reports in a Cancer Registry Database.
