Job summary

CHOC Specialists is seeking a full-time Pediatric Oncologist with a solid tumor focus to join its Oncology Division. The physician will care for patients from infancy through young adulthood in a collaborative pediatric environment.

The center offers state-of-the-art diagnostic services and a full spectrum of treatment modalities, including surgery, radiotherapy, and cellular therapies. This role provides opportunities for teaching, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration in Orange County.

Qualifications

  • Fellowship training in Pediatric Oncology.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Oncology.
  • Eligible for a California medical license.
  • Strong collaboration and communication within a multidisciplinary pediatric oncology environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive oncology care to children with solid tumors, primarily in outpatient settings with occasional inpatient rounds.
  • Collaborate with surgical oncology, radiotherapy, and bone marrow transplant/cellular therapy teams.
  • Participate in tumor boards and coordinate care with case coordinators, infusion services, social work, and families.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, clinical program development, and education/outreach within the Oncology Division.

Position Overview

Pediatric Subspecialty Faculty (PSF), in affiliation with Rady Children's Health - Orange County (RCH-OC), is seeking a full-time Pediatric Oncologist with a solid tumor focus to join its well-established Oncology Division. The physician will care for children from infancy through young adulthood in a collaborative pediatric environment.

The center is recognized for clinical excellence and provides state-of-the-art diagnostic services and a full spectrum of treatment modalities for pediatric malignancies, including surgical oncology, radiotherapy, and bone marrow transplant/cellular therapy. The role offers access to integrated tumor boards, multidisciplinary support, and the professional and lifestyle benefits of Orange County's beaches, mountains, dining, entertainment, and family-friendly communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive oncology care to children from infancy through young adulthood, with a primary focus on solid tumors.
  • Practice primarily in the outpatient setting, with a shared rotation for inpatient rounds and call supported by the advanced practice provider (APP) team.
  • Participate in integrated tumor boards and collaborate closely with surgical oncology, radiotherapy, and bone marrow transplant/cellular therapy teams.
  • Coordinate care with case coordinators, infusion services, social work, and ancillary services to support patients and families throughout treatment.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, clinical program development, and administrative initiatives within the Oncology Division.
  • Support community outreach and other activities that advance pediatric oncology care and education.
  • Partner with strong administrative and operational teams to further the division's clinical, educational, and research goals.
Academic and Research Opportunities
  • Participate in clinical research and trial programs through Children's Oncology Group (COG), the Phase 1 Program, investigator-initiated trials, consortia, and industry-sponsored trials.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows through RCH-OC's role as a primary teaching location for the University of California, Irvine.
  • Contribute to resident and fellow education, quality improvement, community outreach, and administrative initiatives.
  • Help shape exceptional oncology care, education, research, and outreach within a well-established pediatric subspecialty practice.
Candidate Qualifications
Required:
  • Fellowship training in Pediatric Oncology
  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Oncology
  • Eligible for a California medical license
