Job summary

Qualifications

• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1 or CPT2) is required.
• BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross is required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program is required.
• Minimum 2–3 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Proficiency in venipuncture, skin puncture, and pediatric draws.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with compassionate, patient-centered care.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in high-volume settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 30 lbs.
• Manual dexterity to operate lab equipment and perform blood draws safely.
• Ability to travel between UCLA Health community oncology practice sites.
• Ability to respond to changing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling and handling.
• Document specimens in EMR and LIS.
• Coordinate with clinical and laboratory teams to support efficient workflows.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards in oncology care.
