Job summary

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist to join our clinical team in Illinois. This Monday–Friday role has no weekends or major holidays, offering a strong work-life balance.

You will perform phlebotomy, collect specimens, document logs, and ensure QA compliance in a patient-centered environment. Responsibilities include specimen handling, inventory management, sending tests to reference labs, and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• One year of phlebotomy experience.
• ASCP or other approved professional association certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification preferred.
• Preferred ability to perform straight sticks and butterfly draws.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and collects specimens from patients as ordered.
• Maintains documentation according to QA program including logs and checklists.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures viability before use.
• Sends specimens to reference laboratories when needed.
• Processes in-house and incoming reports.
• Properly identifies and handles specimens and patient information.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment as directed.
• Complies with OSHA and Universal Precautions; handles hazardous materials safely.
• Travel to outside clinics as needed.
