Job summary

Northwest Cancer Centers, located in Northwest Indiana, is seeking a phlebotomist for an in-office, full-time role. The position handles blood collection, specimen processing, and maintains strict QA and safety standards in a clinical lab setting.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, specimen labeling, and processing orders, with responsibility for proper documentation and compliance with OSHA and CLIA guidelines. A strong emphasis on patient care and accurate handling of samples is required.

Qualifications

• Licensure from an accredited school of phlebotomy recommended.
• Entry level position with 0–3 years of experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent recommended.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and collects specimens from patients as ordered.
• Maintains documentation in quality assurance and logs.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures viability before use.
• Sends specimens to reference laboratories for testing not done in house.
• Processes incoming orders and reports.
• Keeps daily paperwork, lab logs, and maintenance logs updated.
• Identifies and bands patients for blood product transfusion; labels specimens correctly.
• Operates designated laboratory equipment and keeps area clean.
• Performs waived lab testing under CLIA guidelines and records controls.
