Job summary

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers is seeking a full-time in-office dispensing pharmacy technician for the Goodyear location. The role emphasizes prior authorization and financial assistance while handling prescription processing and patient billing inquiries.

Responsibilities include reviewing coverage, entering patient data, and coordinating with staff to ensure accurate, timely medication dispensing and reimbursement support. Oncology background is a plus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of brand name drugs and their generic equivalents.
• Knowledge of medical terms/abbreviations and in-office dispensary calculations.
• Knowledge of insurance and third-party billing systems.
• Must be able to prioritize and work in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to respect confidentiality of patient data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Internet with basic computer skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Receives electronic prescriptions; obtains prescription coverage and other pertinent information from the patients; enters data in prescription processing system to create a patient profile and determine insurance eligibility.
• Selects medications from stock for preparation; counts, pours, or mixes pharmaceuticals.
• Packages and labels containers; sets up delivery of pharmaceuticals to other clinics.
• Works with other healthcare professionals to accurately process prescription claims.
• Assists in contracts and payor changes; communicates with staff.
• Resolves patient billing questions and assists with reimbursement activities.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
• Prepares and submits documentation to payors when audits are requested.
