Job summary

Cancer Center of South Florida is seeking an Oral Oncology Pharmacy Technician to manage oncology medication inventory, insurance approvals, and patient financial assistance. You will coordinate dispensing through the MID and work closely with patients, providers, and payers to ensure timely access to treatment.

The role requires 3+ years as a pharmacy technician (oncology preferred) and a Florida license. Duties include pre-authorizations, billing support, and compassionate-use program

Qualifications

• Must have strong knowledge of oncology medications and chemotherapy protocols.
• Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations.
• Familiarity with EMR, pharmacy systems, and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Review prescribed oncology treatments using NCCN, pathology, and lab data.
• Obtain and document insurance pre-authorizations for new and existing patients in the EMR.
• Coordinate and upload treatment documentation to support billing and prior authorization.
• Communicate with patients and insurers regarding financial assistance and copay details.
• Assess insurance benefits and patient responsibility, guiding buy-and-bill or white bagging strategies.
• Schedule financial counseling and enroll patients in aid, charity, or compassionate use programs.
• Manage compassionate use and replacement drug shipments from manufacturers.
• Collect signatures on financial forms and assist with dispensing as needed.
• Support prescription refill processes and collaborate with providers on medication needs.
• Assist with MID accreditation compliance and documentation.
