Job summary

USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to prepare and distribute medications under pharmacist supervision. The role involves drug distribution, IV admixture, Pyxis system competency, barcode verification and maintaining a sterile environment.

The technician will perform dose calculations, assist in chemo preparation with USP797/800 protocols, support inventory, and respond to provider inquiries while maintaining accurate logs and documentation.

Qualifications

• Req High school or equivalent.
• Req Specialized/technical training Graduation from accredited Pharmacy Technician School.
• Req Able to perform dose calculations, double checks accuracy of product selection and assures performance of both aseptic and hazardous drug compounding techniques that require the use of a USP797/800 compliant clean room and personal protective equipment to reduce exposure and contamination while maintaining sterility of the final product.
• Req Organization/time management skills.
• Req Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Req Must demonstrate excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Drugs distribution and intravenous admixture under supervision.
• Competency in Pyxis dispensing systems and barcoding.
• Repackaging/unit-dosing medications using MILT4 program.
• Maintain pharmacy inventory and restock.
• Assist health care providers with timely phone calls and triage.
• Document pharmacy log sheets and expiration tracking.
