Job summary

Inova Fairfax Hospital in Northern Virginia is seeking a full-time Patient Access Specialist for the Oncology team to manage patient intake, registration and documentation. The role includes financial counseling, insurance coordination, HIPAA/OSHA compliance, and coordinating with HIM and Utilization Review to support patient needs.

The position operates Monday–Friday, day shifts, within a nationally recognized leader in safety, quality and patient experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of patient access experience preferred.
• Ability to navigate multiple health systems and maintain privacy.

Responsibilities

• Handle patient intake, registration and documentation.
• Coordinate financial counseling and insurance processes.
• Ensure HIPAA/OSHA compliance in daily activities.
• Liaise with HIM and Utilization Review teams as needed.
• Address patient inquiries and document resolutions.
• Coordinate referrals, scheduling and special transport when required.
• Educate patients on kiosk usage and access to information.
