Qualifications

  • Current RN license and APRN or PA license (state-appropriate).
  • National board certification as NP or PA (e.g., AANP/ANCC/NCCPA).
  • Oncology nursing or advanced practice oncology certification preferred (e.g., AOCNP).
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Oncology/acute care clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive oncology-focused history and physical examinations.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust evidence-based oncology treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications, chemotherapy-supportive agents, and order diagnostic tests.
  • Monitor treatment response and manage treatment-related symptoms and toxicities.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care with physicians, nurses, pharmacy, and support services.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, and side-effect management.
  • Document care thoroughly in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Participate in tumor boards, quality improvement, and clinical research initiatives.
