Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is seeking a Cancer Center Nurse Navigator to serve as the primary contact for patients and referring physicians as they transition through ambulatory oncology care across BIDMC cancer centers.

The navigator supports patients by guiding them through the healthcare system, facilitating communication among care teams, and providing education throughout diagnosis and treatment.

Qualifications

• RN license required
• Bachelor's degree required
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate required
• 3–5 years of related clinical medical-surgical experience preferred
• Strong analytic and data-analysis skills; excellent interpersonal abilities

Responsibilities

• Initiates communication with patients upon learning of a positive finding and guides them through the health care system
• Acts as liaison between patient, PCP, surgeon, medical oncologist, and other providers
• Facilitates communication among health care staff and providers
• Provides health education to individuals and groups and develops patient learning materials
• Identifies and collaborates with departments involved in care and builds relationships with care teams
• Assists patients with questions about payment for services and with transportation arrangements when needed
• Tracks interventions and outcomes and participates in medication reconciliation during care transitions
