Job summary

Temple University Hospital, Cancer Center in Philadelphia, seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager for Oncology to support nursing leadership and patient care on the oncology unit.

Under the Nurse Manager, you will plan, direct and evaluate activities; supervise staff; ensure staffing patterns meet patient needs; coordinate infusion services and chemotherapy administration. BSN required; MSN preferred; PA RN license and BLS essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of oncology nursing experience and 1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Oncology Certification (OCN) preferred.
• Candidate should demonstrate expertise in ambulatory oncology operations, infusion services, chemotherapy administration, multidisciplinary care coordination and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, plans, directs, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates overall clinical and administrative activities of an assigned nursing unit. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, assumes ultimate responsibility for staff oversight and the care of patients on a nursing unit. Supervises, evaluates, guides and counsels nursing staff in their work performance. Ensures that staffing patterns provide optimal delivery of nursing service. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practice and principles, methods and techniques involved in providing nursing care, familiarity with organization and function of departments, policies, procedures and regulations and knowledge of principles of leadership and management. Assists in meeting the educational needs of the staff. National certification in Nursing or Healthcare related speciality preferred.

Experience
