Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Oncology Nurse Clinician to coordinate multidisciplinary care, educate patients and families, and promote safe, high-quality nursing practice within a multidisciplinary team. The role requires active Illinois RN licensure, current nursing experience within the past five years, and BLS certification.

The position emphasizes collaboration with physicians, nurses, and support staff to assess patient needs, manage transitions of care, and maintain high standards

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program.
• Current RN license in Illinois.
• BLS Certification.
• 5 years nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and reassess patient and family care needs and initiate referrals.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care and schedule appointments for new patients.
• Collaborate with physicians, family, and staff to plan and communicate care.
• Educate patient, family and caregivers about diagnosis, treatments and testing.
• Support transitions of care and coordinate with care team for smooth handoffs.
• Promote patient safety and reduce potential care errors.
