Job summary

Trinity Health Oakland Hospital is seeking a Patient Support Technician to join the care team on a full-time basis. The role involves direct patient care under RN supervision, coordination of unit activities, and active participation in admissions and patient education.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with 6 months of direct patient care experience and a Nursing/Medical-Surgical rotation preferred. Weekend and holiday shifts are possible in this role.

Qualifications

• 6 months direct patient care experience within past 5 years.
• Completion of one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation in a nursing educational program.
• Previous Health Unit Coordinator/Unit Secretary working experience.
• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program or equivalent.
• Completion of EMT certification or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic bedside care and selected procedures under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Maintains an accurate patient roster/census and coordinates care with the unit team.
• Assists with the admission process by collecting assessment data and orienting patients/families.
• Communicates with physicians and other departments to coordinate patient care.
• Assists with patient education and safety initiatives as directed by the RN.
