Job description

The overall function of the Chief of Breast Medical Oncology is to coordinate the delivery of inpatient and outpatient specialty care by division faculty to all breast cancer patients, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations set forth by JCAHO and other regulatory agencies.

Opportunity Details

1. Provide leadership in the conduct and coordination of breast cancer care.
2. Participate in regular review and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of patient care, utilizing designated medical staff mechanisms.
3. Participate in division budget planning and assist in preparing reports for the Breast Cancer program.
4. Develop programs and services to meet the needs of oncology patients.
5. Define the scope of general oncology practice at the hospital, supporting the hospital's mission and strategic goals, and advocate for oncology services within the University of Pittsburgh Physicians.
6. Assess the cost-effectiveness of oncology practices and recommend methods to optimize resource use without compromising treatment quality.

Qualifications

1. Board Certified in Hematology or Oncology.
2. Licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania.
3. Practice at UPMC Presbyterian-Shadyside Hospitals and the Hillman Cancer Center, utilizing inpatient and outpatient hospital facilities.
4. Proven administrative experience in leading comprehensive programs or centers within a department, division, or institution.
