Job summary

City of Hope in Irvine, CA, seeks a Clinical Nurse III in the Medical Surgical Unit to provide specialized oncology-focused care to a diverse patient population undergoing chemotherapy and other treatments. You will assess patients, coordinate care, and collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and the care team to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role emphasizes critical thinking, documentation, and mentorship of new staff, within a 20-bed unit on nights, with differential pay.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• 3–5 years of related nursing experience.
• Current CA Registered Nurse License.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association.
• ONS chemotherapy/immunotherapy certification.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process and practice standards as a framework for patient care.
• Assess patient conditions, recognize early signs of complications, and respond effectively.
• Delegates to licensed and unlicensed personnel.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies principles to patient documentation.
• Prioritizes holistic care, addressing both the physical and emotional needs of the patients.
• Serves as a mentor and role model to new staff members.
• Coordinates interdisciplinary care planning and ensures understanding of the plan of care and expected outcomes.
