Job summary

Tennessee Oncology is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to support clinic operations and ensure safe, high-quality patient care throughout the cancer treatment process.

The LPN will handle chart reviews, vital signs, rooming, medication management, and EMR documentation, while assisting with procedures and ensuring smooth patient flow in outpatient settings. Oncology-specific training is required within defined timelines.

Qualifications

• Current state LPN License.
• Oncology experience in an outpatient facility preferred
• Minimum of one year LPN experience required. May be waived with the approval of the EDONS
• ONS Oncology Basics chemotherapy course required within 6 months of hire then every two years
• Current TO approved BLS provider card.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patients’ medical records to ensure data is entered prior to scheduled appointment.
• Obtains patient vital signs, weight, height, pain score and other data in EMR.
• Manages rooming process for provider clinics and escorts patients to exam rooms.
• Reviews health history, allergies, and current medications in the EMR.
• Completes required screening questionnaires and records in EMR.
• Assists with provider procedures and acts as chaperone (bone marrow/skin biopsies).
• Stocks exam and treatment rooms with supplies and prepares equipment for treatments.
• Verifies scheduling data with Front Office for labs, providers, treatments and injections.
• Pre-authorizes oral medications and manages prescriptions/refills per policy.
• Manages IV therapy access devices under RN supervision.
• Performs daily/weekly/monthly drug cabinet activities and administers medications as directed.
• Monitors PT/INR and assists with anti-coagulant therapy.
• Completes insurance paperwork and patient documents.
• Performs telephone triage under RN/provider supervision.
• Schedules psychological services and referrals as directed.
• Enters orders into EMR and supports clinic productivity.
• Documents care and charges accurately and timely.
• Participates in quality improvement and mandatory trainings.
