Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a clinical nurse to provide competent oncology patient care in the Cancer Hospital at UNC Medical Center, serving adult patients. The nurse reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and coordinates care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include education, care evaluation, complex patient care implementation, leadership, patient assessment, planning, and engagement in practice improvement and research.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.

Responsibilities

• Education - Identifies and meets learning needs of patient and family.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes and participates in evaluation with the interdisciplinary team.
• Implementation - Delivers complex patient care and coordinates with resources; prioritizes care for patients and families.
• Leadership - Develops goals for professional growth; promotes collaboration and cost-effective care.
• Patient Assessment - Assesses and plans care considering physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
• Planning - Collaborates with patient/family to prepare/update plan of care; uses multidisciplinary resources.
• Research - Reads journals and brings ideas to staff for applicability.
