Job summary

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Louisiana is seeking a Phlebotomy/Lab Technician to perform routine and waived laboratory testing and specimen collection under physician direction. You will ensure accurate specimen handling, documentation, quality control, and safety standards to support patient care.

Responsibilities include collecting specimens, verifying orders and registration, processing specimens for internal/external processing, and assisting in Lab area management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a phlebotomy certification program preferred.
• 1 year experience in a lab preferred; oncology experience preferred.
• Active Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME) Laboratory Assistant license, or pending with active status achieved within 90 days of hire date.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens from patients and ensure quality control.
• Verify lab orders are available and patients are registered.
• Process specimens for internal and external processing.
• Manage the Lab area and ensure safety standards.
