Job summary

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Louisiana seeks a dedicated phlebotomist to perform routine and waived laboratory testing and specimen collection. You will collect specimens, verify orders, and ensure proper handling under physician direction and supervision to support patient care.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, phlebotomy training, and 1 year lab experience (oncology preferred); active LSBME licensure or pending status within 90 days is required.

Qualifications

• Active Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners Laboratory Assistant license, or pending with active status achieved within 90 days of hire date.

Job Description:

SCOPE: Performs routine and waived and moderate complexity laboratory testing and specimen collection in accordance with established procedures, regulatory requirements, and scope of practice. Performs phlebotomy under physician direction and facility supervision in compliance with Louisiana law. Ensures accurate specimen handling, documentation, quality control, and adherence to safety standards to support patient care.
