Job summary

OHC is seeking an Admixture Technician / Pharmacy Tech at our Eastgate site. This role supports preparation of medication orders through compounding/admixture under physician supervision, coordinating with treatment suite nurses to ensure high-quality cancer care.

Qualified candidates have 3–5 years of pharmacy experience with IV skills; IV certification is preferred but not required. High School diploma or equivalent is required, with opportunities for advancement within a large oncology

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years' experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.
• IV certification preferred but not required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing under supervision of a physician.
• Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
• Under direct supervision, admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines, and preparing all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.
• Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Assists in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintain records. Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs.
• Assists in cleaning hoods daily checking drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
• Assists in keeping accurate temperature logs, accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
• Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers.
• Provide support with inventory control of medications. Prepares labels. Files and prepares billing. Basic data entry into department automation. Ordering of medication and supplies as directed.
• Assist with required cleaning and maintenance of the admix area and the pharmacy department in general to minimize particle counts and improve overall sanitation.
