Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver and manage direct patient care using the nursing process in a midsize hospital setting. The role requires MA licensure and BLS, with ACLS/PALS as specified by unit requirements.

It emphasizes professional growth, governance involvement, and collaboration with the health care team. The position carries a non-exempt status with a daytime schedule (Monday–Friday, 8A–4:30P) and a base range that may include a signing bonus.

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts nursing licensure and registration.
• BLS is required for every RN unless ACLS certification is current.
• ACLS certification required in select areas (Gannett, MP1, ICU, ED, Cath Lab, Endo, IR, PACU, Float Pool).
• PALS certification may be required in select areas (PACU, ED).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) highly preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable where licensure is not required.
• Department competencies will be developed and reviewed with the incumbent.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Nursing Process for patient care from admission to discharge.
• Performs patient assessment and reassessment per standard procedure.
• Develops and coordinates each patient's plan of care including discharge planning.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluates nursing care in the assigned setting.
• Delegates appropriately to others per job description and competency.
• Documents patient care per standard procedure.
• Develops, implements and documents education plans for patient/family/significant others.
• Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.
• Administers medications, performs treatments and operates equipment per policy.
• Assists physicians with treatments, procedures and tests as required.
• Participates in Nursing Governance activities and professional growth.
• Supports performance improvement initiatives and quality daily operations.
