Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Nurse Clinician - Oncology Infusion in Old Irving Park, Chicago. The role, full-time, days, involves nursing assessments, chemotherapy administration, education, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Nursing
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• State Licensed Registered Nurse for State of employment
• Certification in Basic CPR
• 2 years of relevant clinical experience in an acute or ambulatory care environment

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with OSHA.
• Provide pre-attending care for patients with comprehensive assessments and documentation.
• Perform routine nursing duties including phlebotomy, med administration, vital signs, labs.
• Demonstrate competency in procedures such as conscious sedation, chemotherapy administration, and wound care.
• Interpret abnormalities from tests and procedures and document actions taken.
• Collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care and communication.
• Triage and prioritize incoming telephone calls using clinical assessment skills.
• Manage urgent/emergent situations per organizational protocols and equipment readiness.
• Serve as a resource for staff and physicians for problem-solving and decision-making.
• Initiate and coordinate patient education and community outreach when appropriate.
