Job summary

BillionToOne Inc. is seeking a Development Associate to join the Oncology Development and Process Engineering team in Menlo Park, CA.

You will gain hands-on experience in molecular assay development, data analysis, and automated workflows supporting clinical patient testing in a high-throughput CLIA lab. You will work on assay validation, regulatory conformance, and technology transfer across departments, contributing to scalable processes and robust, data-driven decisions in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Biophysics, or related fields.
• At least 12 months of molecular biology techniques experience in a lab.
• Strong foundation in quantitative data analysis with R or Python.
• Excellent communication skills to report to cross-functional teams.
• Proven troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Assay & Method Development: Develop and extend current assays to better fit evolving clinical needs, with support from scientists, engineers, and other technical staff
• Computational Data Analysis: Apply analytical and computational methods used in current assays, build software tools to analyze experiments
• Validation & Regulatory Compliance: Support assay validations and derisking under regulatory and design control frameworks
• Scientific Communication: Present technical findings and project updates verbally and in reports
• Wet Lab Execution: Carry out experiments and document procedures; help organize the R&D lab
• Tech Transfer: Partner across departments to transfer and scale developed assays and workflows into high-throughput clinical operations
• Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Identify variation sources and implement short-term and long-term fixes
