Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join the McAllen team. This full-time role supports patient care in a busy oncology clinic, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8am to 5pm and no weekends, call, or major holidays.

Under supervision, you will assist physicians and clinicians, document vitals, prep exam rooms, and handle routine administrative tasks while upholding Texas Oncology's standards of care.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistants program preferred.
• Entry level position with 0-3 years' experience as a medical/ nursing assistant.
• Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant for Level 2.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred for Level 2.
• Minimum five years experience in hospital or clinic setting for Level Sr and CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms and offices.
• Record patient data prior to visits, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Obtain necessary patient records required by physician prior to treatment.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated.
• Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answer patient calls and refer to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
• Place prescriptions and contact patients as directed by physicians.
• Notify physician of reschedules and no-shows.
• Perform other administrative duties as requested.
• May enter orders under a provider's direction and supervision.
