Job summary

Texas Oncology seeks a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Medical Oncology team at the South Austin location. This full-time role runs Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm, with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

The ideal candidate is a graduate from an accredited nursing program, holds an RN license, and has current BLS certification; oncology experience is preferred across levels 1, 2, or Sr.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.
• Level 2 requires 3-5 years oncology experience.
• Level Sr requires five years oncology nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
• Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history.
• Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
• Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy line and record in chart.
• Coordinate consultations, pre-testing, diagnostics or procedures, referrals and future appointments.
• Triage patient phone calls and document relevant information in chart.
• Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team.
• Assist patients in locating available community resources.
• Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
