Job summary

Hope & Healing Cancer Services is expanding its oncology care model to include integrated behavioral health services. We are seeking a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) to provide specialized mental health support to oncology patients and their families.

The role focuses on addressing psychological, emotional, and behavioral challenges across cancer diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and palliative care, while working closely with a multidisciplinary oncology team.

Qualifications

• Active LCPC license in Illinois.
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual counseling to oncology patients across the care continuum (new diagnosis, active treatment, survivorship, end-of-life).
• Conduct psychosocial assessments, including distress screening and risk evaluation.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Provide crisis intervention and emotional support.
• Support patients coping with treatment-related stress, chronic illness adjustment, and end-of-life concerns.
• Provide counseling and guidance to family members and caregivers.
• Facilitate family meetings when needed.
• Support caregiver burnout and emotional strain.
• Collaborate with oncologists, APPs, nurses, and coordinators; participate in multidisciplinary case discussions.
• Integrate behavioral health into clinical workflows and care plans.
• Assist in building and scaling the oncology behavioral health program; develop screening protocols, referral pathways, SOPs.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation; ensure HIPAA and Illinois regulations compliance.
• Develop and lead support groups and psychoeducation sessions.
