Job summary

Loft Federal is seeking a Flight Software Engineer to design, implement, and test onboard software for our satellite fleet. You will work with C/C++ and Python, contribute to the onboard architecture, and collaborate across teams to ensure robust, scalable software that supports missions in orbit.

The role emphasizes ownership, code reviews, and integration testing in a fast-paced space systems environment. TS clearance eligibility is required for consideration.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship and TS clearance eligibility
• 3+ years of software engineering in C/C++ and Python
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows
• Experience with CI tools (GitLab-CI, Jenkins)
• Knowledge of Make/CMake build systems
• Understanding of distributed architecture
• Familiarity with UDP/TCP/IP and POSIX
• Experience in multi-threaded development
• Previous team leader or manager role

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and refine software with ownership, driving features from concept to delivery
• Review code, provide feedback, ensure adherence to processes and standards
• Design and implement unit and integration tests
• Use Git to create feature branches, push code, and merge to production
• Contribute to onboard software architecture through proposals and reviews
• Help enhance software development processes and standards
• Coordinate with downstream teams on releases and deployments
• Opportunity to participate in operating the on-orbit satellite fleet
