Job summary

Amtrak in Illinois is hiring Train Attendants to ensure a safe, comfortable journey for passengers on coach or sleeping cars. You may work either coach or sleeping cars, keeping cars clean and providing first-class amenities as needed.

Responsibilities include assisting boarding and detraining, loading supplies, and maintaining restrooms. Flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, are required; benefits and a unionized pay scale accompany the position.

Qualifications

• Food and beverage handling experience.
• Cash handling and customer contact experience.
• Experience in housekeeping.
• Must be at least 21 years of age upon completion of classroom training.
• Successful completion of a customer service aptitude test.
• Drug screening and pre-employment medical exam.
• Ability to lift heavy items and stand long hours.
• Willingness to rotate schedule including weekends/holidays.
• Uniform and grooming policies adhered to.
• HS Diploma or GED obtained.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comfortable journeys for coach or sleeping car passengers.
• Load/unload supplies and maintain inventory.
• Offer dining car service and side work as directed.
• Assist passengers boarding/detraining and with baggage.
• Support special assistance to elderly and disabled passengers.
