Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

The role emphasizes coordination of train movements, safety documentation, and adherence to applicable policies. The position requires field readiness, travel for extended periods, and the ability to complete required safety trainings.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones and communication tools to coordinate train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods (months).
• Valid Driver's License required.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way.
• Ability to complete required training (Federal, Client, Company).

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety: set up derails, track signs, and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Maintain radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate worksite safety status.
• Conduct mandatory, concise job briefings with all crew members before entering the track.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.
