Job summary

RailPros is seeking an experienced Roadway Worker in Charge (RWIC) to oversee on-site roadway worker protection on and around live railroad tracks. You will coordinate job sites, manage radio communications with dispatchers and engineers, and lead daily briefings for crews.

The position requires substantial training, background checks, and frequent travel across multiple states. A high school diploma or GED is required, with 10–15+ years of RWIC experience depending on prior employer, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 10 years RWIC experience with BNSF or 15+ years with a Class I/II railroad.
• Ability to pass background checks, drug/alcohol testing, and trainings.
• Willingness to travel frequently across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site roadway worker protection per rules and coordinate with trains.
• Maintain radio communication with dispatchers and engineers; ensure safety limits are respected.
• Lead daily job briefings with all personnel on site.
• Prepare electronic forms for job setup, reports, and invoices.
• Place signs, derailments, and locking devices as required.
• Participate in safety and qualification trainings regularly.
• Communicate with RWIC supervisors and managers regarding schedules.
• Travel as required to project sites.
