Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners. The role is based in Cody, WY and involves extensive field work.

The EIC position requires strong communication skills, ability to travel 50%–85% of the time, a valid driver's license, and prior railroad experience in maintenance of way. Training and safety compliance are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and communication tools for coordinating train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods.
• Valid Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' railroad experience, preferably in maintenance of way.
• Ability to complete required training.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety such as setting up derails and track signs.
• Prepare daily field reports and report rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Maintain radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate safety status.
• Conduct thorough job briefings with crew before entry to track.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
