Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge (EIC) to deliver essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, and state DOTs from its Pullman, WA operations.

The role requires coordinating crews, documenting safety procedures, and ensuring compliance with railroad policies on active tracks. The EIC will travel extensively (50–85% of the time), set up safety tools, and communicate with dispatchers while leading field briefings.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and field communication tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods, months at a time.
• Valid Driver's License and High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety such as set up of derails, track signs, and other safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report on any rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate worksite safety status.
• Conduct mandatory clear, concise, and thorough job briefings with all crew members before they enter the track.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.
