Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge (EIC) in Irvine, CA to deliver essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, and state DOTs.

The role focuses on coordinating worksite safety and maintaining clear communications with dispatch and crews. Ideal candidates bring at least 2 years in a railroad environment (MOW preferred), strong organizational skills, and the ability to travel 50–85% of the time.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in using tablets and smartphones to coordinate train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
• Willingness to travel for extended periods (months at a time).
• Valid Driver's License is required.
• Minimum 2 years in a railroad company, preferably in Maintenance of Way (MOW).
• Ability to complete Federal, Client, and/or Company Training.

Responsibilities

• Set up On-Track Safety tools (derails, track signs, etc.).
• Prepare daily field reports and document rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination and safety communications.
• Maintain radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews.
• Conduct briefings with crew before work on track.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
