Job summary

Great Basin Industrial, LLC seeks a Backhoe Operator for railroad construction across the Intermountain West. The role involves operating a backhoe and on-track equipment, with training to handle Tamper machines and Ballast Regulators.

Requirements include 1 year of backhoe experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver's license. Travel and weekend work are expected as part of the hourly, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of backhoe operating experience.
• HS Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to understand instructions and communicate with superintendents and crew.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoes and heavy equipment safely.
• Set up equipment and attachments for daily use.
• Perform pre-start inspections and routine maintenance.
• Grade, excavate and move earth and ballast; load/unload materials.
• Coordinate equipment movements with crew and signals.
• Review plans and grade/operation instructions.
• Lead a crew and delegate tasks.
• Train others on equipment operations.
