Job summary

Great Basin Industrial, LLC in Rock Springs, WY seeks a Backhoe Operator for an hourly, full-time role involving earthwork for railroad-related projects and training on on-track equipment.

Operate backhoes and other heavy equipment safely, perform inspections, grade and excavate, and coordinate with the crew. Travel across the Intermountain West and weekend work may be required; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a backhoe operator; railroad or heavy civil work preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand instructions and communicate with supervisors and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoes and heavy equipment safely and productively.
• Set up equipment and attachments for daily work.
• Perform pre-start inspections and routine maintenance.
• Grade, excavate, and move earth and ballast as directed.
• Coordinate equipment movements with crew signals.
• Lead a crew and delegate tasks when required.
