Job summary

Diné College's Tsaile Campus is seeking a Professional Writing Tutor to support ENG 101 & 102 students in the Tsaile Learning Center. The tutor will guide writing assignments, model study strategies, and facilitate learning under the supervision of the Learning Center Manager.

Responsibilities include onboarding students to the DC Portal and Canvas, conducting writing workshops, collaborating with ENG instructors, and ensuring FERPA compliance while scheduling and counseling.

Qualifications

• Requires associate degree in English or related field; one year higher-ed student work experience preferred.
• Knowledge of APA/MLA formatting and citation standards.
• Familiarity with FERPA confidentiality and student data handling.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to adapt to new software/tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist with onboarding and orientation for all students and provide access to DC Portal, Learning Center, and Canvas.
• Explain concepts clearly and guide writing assignments without doing the work for students.
• Ask guided questions to help students develop critical thinking and writing skills.
• Lead students through writing processes: prewriting, drafting, revising, proofreading, editing.
• Coordinate with ENG instructors to understand assignments and requirements.
• Ensure FERPA compliance when handling student information and scheduling.
• Plan and host at least two ENG workshops per month in person and via Zoom.
• Attend meetings and training; work with faculty to identify tutoring needs and resources.
• Keep records of tutoring sessions and submit weekly reports to supervisor.
