Job summary

Fehr Graham in Monroe, Wisconsin is seeking a results-driven Resident Engineer to lead on-site construction oversight on roadway and municipal projects across Wisconsin and northern Illinois. You’ll partner with contractors, clients and internal teams to ensure quality delivery.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction engineering, familiarity with WisDOT/IDOT processes, and strong field inspection and documentation skills, with EIT/PE credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).
• Licensed EIT preferred; PE license is a plus.
• 5+ years of construction engineering experience on roadway/municipal projects.
• Experience with WisDOT/IDOT specifications and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, specifications, and regulatory standards.
• Manage and oversee day-to-day field operations for roadways, bridges, utility installations, and other civil infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with contractors, subconsultants, municipal clients, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
• Perform and document field inspections, materials testing, and quality control procedures.
• Monitor construction schedules and budgets; proactively identify and address potential delays or overruns.
• Maintain accurate project records, field notes, daily reports, and change documentation.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and project-specific requirements.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to field staff and engineering interns.
• Support project managers with closeout documentation, punch lists, and final inspections.
