Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Columbus, Indiana is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of components and materials.

You will verify conformance to drawings, use CMM/Faro arm and other tools, maintain traceability, and coordinate with Quality Engineers and suppliers to drive containment and corrective actions. The role requires strong communication, problem solving, and the ability to work with engineers and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of COS principles and practices.
• Ability to read engineering drawings with GD&T.
• Strong organizational skills and problem solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspection of incoming components, raw materials, and parts.
• Verify components compliance with drawings, specifications, control plans, and customer requirements.
• Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, Faro arm, and other inspection equipment.
• Maintain traceability for inspected materials, including lot numbers, certificates, and required documentation.
• Review and verify supplier documentation such as Certificates of Conformance (CoC), material certifications, and PPAP documentation.
• Manage quarantine area and ensure proper identification, segregation of nonconforming materials.
• Coordinate material disposition activities with Quality Engineers, Purchasing, and Production.
• Maintain records in Oracle and generate reports on incoming quality performance.
