Job summary

Mabe Steel Inc. is seeking a Rigger to join our on-site field team. You will prepare lifts, signal crane operators, and coordinate with the connectors to keep steel erection moving on active construction sites.

Ideal candidates have rigging experience on structural steel or crane-assisted projects, knowledge of load weights and balance points, and the ability to work outdoors at heights in varying weather. 100% fall protection and PPE are required.

Qualifications

• Rigging experience on structural steel or crane-assisted projects.
• Qualified Rigger and Signal Person certifications preferred, or ability to obtain them.
• Sound judgment and awareness of overhead loads and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working outdoors and at elevated heights in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Select, inspect and attach slings, shackles, chokers and other rigging for each load.
• Determine load weights, balance points and rigging configurations.
• Signal and communicate with the crane operator by hand signals and radio.
• Support connectors by preparing and sequencing loads to keep erection moving.
• Work on the ground and at elevated heights as lifts require.
• Inspect rigging gear daily and remove damaged equipment from service.
