Job summary

MMI Industrial & Steel is seeking a Quality Control Inspector for our on-site facility. You will perform visual and dimensional inspections of fabricated steel, ensure compliance with AWS and project specs, and report non-conformities to supervisors.

The role emphasizes ongoing quality improvements and accurate documentation. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in QC in structural steel, with strong blueprint reading skills and knowledge of AISC standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in quality control or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years in a quality control role within structural steel or industrial fabrication.
• Thorough knowledge of AISC standards, AWS D1.1 and D1.8 codes, and proficient blueprint reading.
• Experience with inspection tools and implementing quality assurance processes.
• CWI certification is desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of fabricated steel components.
• Verify fabrications meet AWS and project-specific standards.
• Document non-conformities and communicate findings to supervisors and production teams.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes.
• Maintain detailed records of quality inspections and prepare reports on findings and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with project managers to resolve quality-related issues promptly.
• Assist in quality control training for production staff.
• Conduct pre-fabrication and post-fabrication inspections to ensure standards before assembly.
