Job summary

Clayco, a leading real estate development and construction firm, seeks a CDC Project Engineer for on-site steel coordination between the Project Manager, fabricator, dispatch, and field teams. You will ensure deliveries are scheduled, verified, and documented per project requirements to maintain schedule integrity.

You will verify material accuracy, resolve delivery issues, and support project execution as the primary on-site link among CDC, fabrication facilities, logistics, and erection crews.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in construction, project engineering, field engineering, or materials coordination is preferred.
• Experience with steel erection, fabrication, logistics, or materials management strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and bills of material.
• Familiarity with delivery documentation (BOLs, packing slips, shipping logs).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating across multiple teams.
• Proactive problem-solving and issue identification.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
• High level of accountability and ownership of responsibilities.
• Ability to adapt to changing schedules and field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily and weekly steel deliveries with the fabricator, dispatch, and site teams.
• Track fabrication and delivery schedules to align with project sequencing and erection plans.
• Communicate delivery status, delays, and changes to project stakeholders.
• Resolve delivery conflicts and issues with materials or schedules.
• Check in delivered steel on site against bills of lading, shop drawings, and shipping lists.
• Identify missing or damaged materials and coordinate corrective actions.
• Maintain delivery logs and material tracking records.
• Serve as on-site CDC representative coordinating with PMs, fabricator, dispatch, logistics, and field crews.
• Participate in site meetings related to steel sequencing and installation planning.
• Support field teams with material locations, timing, and installation priorities.
• Coordinate with fabrication shops regarding readiness and shipping sequences; visit shops as needed.
• Identify and report quality issues related to steel fabrication or shipping damage.
• Document discrepancies for change orders or corrective actions.
• Support PMs in resolving steel-related field issues quickly to minimize delays and costs.
• Provide daily/weekly delivery and material status updates to the Project Manager.
• Assist with maintaining project documentation on deliveries, discrepancies, and resolutions.
• Support continuous improvement in logistics and material tracking.
