Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Staff Accountant for a mission-driven nonprofit organization. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity that is fully on-site and offers the opportunity to play an important role within the organization's Finance & Administration team.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of supporting daily accounting operations, month-end close, reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting while

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in accounting principles and GAAP.
• Hands-on experience with account reconciliations, payroll processing, financial reporting, and/or month-end close.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge and ADP Workforce Now is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily and monthly accounting operations, including account reconciliations, journal entries, reimbursements, and maintaining general ledger accuracy.
• Process bi-weekly payroll and related reporting, including timesheet verification, benefit and union deductions, retirement transmissions, and final checks.
• Partner with HR to ensure accurate employee setup and changes, payroll deductions, accruals, reporting, and resolution of payroll discrepancies.
• Prepare bank reconciliations, fixed asset and depreciation schedules, prepaid expense schedules, and monthly financial reports.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close, external audits, budget preparation, and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and workflows.
• Support departmental and organizational special projects and other accounting duties as needed.
