Job summary

Builders Mutual is seeking a Data Engineer II to design and optimize scalable ETL/ELT processes, enhance the Enterprise Data Warehouse, and build data marts for business units. You will mentor juniors and work with governance, security, and performance tuning initiatives from a Raleigh-based home office, with periodic in-person meetings.

Ideal candidates hold a BA/BS in a data-related field with 3–6 years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or DB administration, and have

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in data-related field with 3–6 years' data engineering experience.
• Insurance industry experience preferred.
• Advanced SQL with experience in relational databases and data warehousing.
• Ability to work independently within agile teams and collaborate with analysts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT processes to support data integration.
• Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
• Work independently on assigned projects to support business initiatives within agile delivery teams.
• Ensure data quality and consistency by identifying and resolving data integrity issues.
• Implement and monitor data governance, security, and compliance policies.
• Support performance tuning of SQL queries and database structures.
• Automate data workflows and improve monitoring and alerting processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data pipeline and infrastructure issues.
• Document and standardize best practices for data engineering processes.
