Job summary

Onward Search Education in Providence County, Rhode Island is hiring Special Education Teachers for the 2026/2027 school year to support elementary classrooms in on-site programs.

You will deliver individualized instruction, develop IEPs, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and engage families to monitor progress while promoting inclusive practices in a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field.
• Rhode Island teaching licensure/certification for Special Education or ability to obtain.
• Experience supporting students with disabilities in school-based settings (elementary preferred).
• Strong skills in classroom management, differentiated instruction, and progress monitoring/data collection.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with families.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned to student goals and present levels.
• Develop, implement, and maintain compliant IEPs (goals, accommodations, services, progress monitoring).
• Differentiate instruction and provide interventions using evidence-based special education practices.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and school teams to support inclusion and access.
• Implement classroom supports/structures as needed (e.g., sensory supports, adaptive tools, behavior supports).
• Communicate proactively with families and contribute to meetings, documentation, and progress updates.
