Job summary

Relative Dynamics seeks a Mission Operations Planning Engineer to work on-site with NASA GSFC in Greenbelt, MD. You will lead cross-functional working groups, define activation sequences, and ensure coordination across instrument, spacecraft, flight ops, science, and IT security teams.

The role requires 5+ years in mission operations or spaceflight operations, plus experience developing flight procedures and handling data flows from Level 0 upward.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in Mission Operations Planning or satellite/spaceflight operations.
  • Experience developing and verifying flight operations procedures.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft-to-ground data flow concepts, including telemetry routing and science data processing levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Mission Operations Working Groups to define instrument-specific activation sequences and resolve resource conflicts.
  • Define post-launch calibrations and confirm support for pointing, timing, power, and data needs.
  • Document activation, calibration, and contingency procedures for ground testing and rehearsals; lead pre-launch verification.
  • Define processes for developing and validating new procedures after launch.
  • Define OPSCON and document staffing, shifts, and facility implications.
  • Trace data flow from spacecraft vendor to GSFC SDPF and coordinate with IT Security on networking.
