Job summary

The University of South Dakota seeks a Software Engineer to provide application, data, and integration support for the Vermillion campus. The role requires on-site presence; remote work is not offered.

You will develop, test, maintain, and troubleshoot ERP interfaces, APIs, and ETL pipelines, gather requirements, and deliver solutions aligned with business needs. You will design BI capabilities and ensure data quality across enterprise systems while mentoring junior team members and documenting

Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems, enterprise app development, SQL, API integration, ETL, and analytics reporting.
• Strong design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Customer service orientation and collaboration with campus partners.
• Willingness to learn new systems and maintain thorough documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, maintain, and troubleshoot campus and statewide applications, ERP interfaces, APIs, and ETL or pipeline processes.
• Gather requirements, define project specifications, estimate timelines and resources, and deliver solutions that align with business needs.
• Design and support business intelligence solutions that provide accurate, timely data for campus decision-makers.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues across enterprise systems.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data environments, including lakehouse technologies and Microsoft Fabric where applicable.
• Collaborate with administrative offices and technical partners to map processes, improve workflows, and support system changes.
• Coordinate with SDBOR Regent Information System staff on system‑level issues, integrations, and shared initiatives.
• Create clear technical and process documentation for technical, functional, and leadership audiences.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.
